I wanted to write a call-and-response type of song, where the first line of each phrases poses a situation or condition, and the responding line answers with God's sufficiency. This song helps remind me who God is, and who I am because of that. It is so easy to take another perspective, but remaining grounded in God’s sufficiency is the point of view I hope to maintain.
lyrics
In the dark where shadows haunt your fire burns the whole night long / When I loose my way in doubt you're the song that guides me out
There's no one like you
None before you, none beside you
Our king of glory
Enthroned above, reaching out to us
Hearts grow weak and passions cold, but you're the anchor of my soul / In your presence I am new, light to light, I'll follow you
In the garden where I pray you've become my hiding place / Darkest night you've turned to day, your glory lives inside of me
Love will silence fear when you are drawing near / My assurance held in your hands / You're stronger than my foes, and kinder than my friends / You're the only one who tells me who I am / Who is like the Lord?
When I walk in loneliness you remain my closest friend / Love's the reason I was made, and love remains when all else fades
