Breathe 04:02
You're calling me under water / That's where the life is / I can't see too far ahead now / But I know you're calling me Glowing lights like buried treasure / I want to find them / I make my way from strength to strength now / Learning who I am Breathe under the water Swim the see, drawing me farther To you, finding my way to you Finding my way to you A path of stones laid on the water / I don't belong there / I'm letting go, swimming deeper / There's something down there / There's something down there A mountain stands out in the distance / An ocean between us / Above, below, a spirit moving / I know you're calling me I'm finding my way to you
2.
Something in her eyes again / an emptiness, a disengagement / She watches birds wishing she was one / She can't bring herself to answer all the questions that they ask her / But she knows / But she can't say / Find your voice It seems the fire's long burned out / Absent flames, what remains now? / A cavity / Just ghosts and embers / Her passion is an open wound / What is born of fire and blood? / Something new / Find your voice You were made of intention and grace And for your song creation waits Luminous, a word can rescue us So find your voice Go echo stardust I told her life's a gift / She's so afraid to open it / She plants flowers, sees them grow and die / There's not enough time / So heavy, her feelings / Becoming isn't easy / She turns her tears to poetry / She finds her voice There's questions in the waiting / There's worry in the waiting / There's tension in the waiting / Keep on waiting / Keep on waiting / There's redemption in the waiting / You're becoming in the waiting / Lift your head up in the waiting / If you're waiting, it's not over I told her life's a gift / Go echo stardust
3.
As the flower fades in the autumn we are made from dust, and to dust return / Wither in the sun and the wind comes, leaving not a trace / Will anyone remember us? Here we find ourselves in the grandest story we can live / Take care not to rush / Daring to believe in a union, it's a fearful thing to love what death can touch Living is a fire Flesh and time consumed in light Facing my desire Breathing in the scent of mystery's intent Everything that falls, you uphold it all, Love unsearchable The spirit that revives comes in the disguised substance of our lives Every soul enfleshed only draws breath by design of grace / We are moved to praise / Whether in despair or in hope, so radiant the gaze / Songs give way to faith Luminous, the dark, hidden places / More than we can bear, that God is everywhere / Beauty of the world multiplied to infinite degree covers everything Dying by the brightness Moving where the light is
4.
Save Me 04:14
The ice is melting underneath / adrift untethered on an endless deep / Fractured glass worn paper thin / Floating outward on the current's whim / I'm drifting far away Save me I'm lost at sea Scared the things I trust in have abandoned me Can you see the start or end? 'Cause I'm too turned around to know which part I'm in I look around and I can't breathe / signless surface far as eyes can see / Got tired of the mystery / I can't believe that anyone's as scared as me / So far away Save me I'm crying out Suffocated by fear and this relentless doubt Save me I'm all alone When everyone is a stranger how can I be known? I need more than a little help Save me from all I've been I went to far and the waves have brought me down again Can you see much deeper still? If there's a refuge it's just beyond my strength of will Where mercy rises like the sun / over all I've done and left undone / A resurrected heart made new / I'm not alone in all I'm going through
5.
When you brought us home it was like a dream / You brought back what we lost like we were in a dream Those who sow in tears / Those who bear the seed / Let your tears fall down / Sowing heaven's seed Our mouths were filled with laughter Tongues with shouts of joy They said among the nations "You have don'e great things." You've done great things for us Our hearts have been made glad Restore to us all we have lost like desert streams We're like those who dream Reap with shouts of joy / Brining back your sheaves / Come home with shouts of joy / Our blessings never cease
6.
Stay Awake 04:17
Left the sand dunes where I come from / I felt the wind blow / I took the long road / In the rearview early light breaks / Feels like a good day to make my own way Stay awake Left to right, I look both ways / Each intersection demands reflection / Close my eyes, I'm halfway there / Get's hard to hope for becoming much more Stay awake Come alive to what's before you right now Can you surrender to the moment right now? Just this, right now There's a garden springing flowers / Their tiny rows bend into their stone ends / Destination in my mind's eye / I'm not there yet, but it's a safe bet Everything can move in us to love / What's below and what's above / Everything is moving us to love A winding road from where I started / Forty years down / They're set in stone now / The beginning to the finish / I keep hoping my eyes stay open Stay awake
7.
You're not far, you're near / Anywhere I go / Your love is all around me revealing hope Before I close my eyes / Before I bend my knee / Your presence draws in closer / You're here with me / So close to me Faithful shepherd Friend of the sinner Light for the wanderer Rest for the weary Gentle healer Holding the broken Love for the lonely Jesus You call me your child / Though I have wandered far / Forgiveness flows from your heart / Light beaks the dark / That's who you are Show me more, more of you / Saving power breaking through / Show me how to love like you / You lead I'll follow Give me eyes to see through all my wounds and scars / I want to love like you love / I need your heart
8.
Where am I from? / Is there a reason that I am this way? / Am I a gun? / Where do these feelings come from? / Can I choose to be someone? What is my purpose? / Is there a story still unfolding? / I'm not a gun / But I know I was made / I'll be what I need to be to keep you safe Souls don't die You stay, I'll go No following I'll take flight I'll break apart You can put me back together Where am I from? / Is there a reason that I am the way I am? / I'm not a gun / Where do these feelings come from? / I'll be who I need to be

about

I think we exist on purpose. I think we were made with intention and grace. That's ultimately what this collection of songs is about.

I wrote Breathe in 2018. It was one of those rare songs that comes together quickly. I don't usually put a lot of effects and pads on my songs because that tends to signal to everyone listening that I record in a living room. But I liked how Breathe turned out, so I decided to put together a collection that would fit in more or less the same musical style. It's bit more electronic than what I've done before.

This collection has a few songs about anxiety (Hello, pandemic life) and some songs about getting older. But I'm still a person who hopes, and I think that if my songs have any resonance, it is because they come from a place of hope.

Thank you for listening.
