This is the oldest song in the collection. I wrote and recorded it in 2014. I know sometimes worship songs can get too introspective, so they seem more about us than about God, and that can lead to trouble. Then again, worship always grounds us in our identity - who we are in light of who he is. The song ends with an expression of my desire in worship: to be cleansed, unearthed, and anchored in hope.
lyrics
Comforter, come abide with me / I am broken and I need eyes to see the expansion of your kingdom, and who I am in light of your love
Come fill this place as I proclaim that
You are savior, I'm the one who's being saved from all I've done
You call, I answer, "Have your way"
I'm not alone and I am not afraid
Lift my eyes, lift my burdened soul, for the truth is I am alive and whole / Break the lies that make me feel bound, for I am free, and my hope is sound
Freedom is now / Salvation is now / They're only found where your love abounds
Your words, like water, fill my spirit
I am satisfied and content
Like a river washing over
Hope defines my unearthed soul
